Delonix regia

Since the summer of 2020, I started growing the tree from a seed. It was one of four actually, and the only one who made it. After much waiting, it was time to give it a proper home. The royal poinciana as it is better know will provide a lovely shade along with its bright red flowers once it blooms.

Today I planted the tree in me Mum’s front yard. It’s predecessor was a Swietenia mahagoni aka. As the American/Cuban/West Indian mahogany. Planted with my family back in 2006, it survived up to hurricane Irma, where the base of the trunk was ripped from the root. The wood was salvaged and made it a couple of pieces of furniture.

The poinciana was planted over the site of the previous tree that fell which was what I believe to be an oak, which sadly fell during Hurricane Wilma. Considering the trees on the front are 0-2, this tree has big shoes to fill.
