M416

One would call it a barn find, except this one came from Hollywood and not the one in California.

M416 is the name of the trailer model. From what I gathered from the previous owner as well as some internet sleuthing, this was used during the Vietnam war. It was made for the 1/4 ton US Jeeps during the war. The trailer had an interesting feature which is that the bed of the trailer floats during water crossings.

From the other things I have gathered, this trailer still comes with mostly all original hardware if not all. The trailer does need some work done to it, but nothing I can’t tackle.

First order of business was removing the old military tires, which were dry rotted beyond compare. I was amazed they managed to survive the highway drive to its new home. After removing the tires, I sent the wheels to get sandblasted and powder coated. I’ll keep y’all updated on the progress.
